Indian actress and singer Mimi Chakraborty has accused event organizers of harassing her during a live event in Bengal’s Bongaon city. The organizers, however, have denied the allegations, stating that Chakraborty’s security personnel were responsible for the altercation.
Chakraborty, a 36-year-old actress known for her work in Bengali films and television dramas, lodged a police complaint at the Bongaon police station on Monday, alleging that the event organizers disrupted her performance on stage and asked her to leave the stage. The organizers claimed that Chakraborty’s security personnel were involved in a scuffle with them.
Tanmoy Shastri, an event organizer, told the media that Chakraborty was an hour late and was only allowed to perform for half the night. “She was not insulted, nor was she harassed,” he said. “The allegations are baseless.”
Chakraborty later shared a cryptic note on her Instagram stories, referencing fabricated stories. She wrote about people who get angry when faced with the truth, seemingly referencing the controversy surrounding her allegations.
The incident comes amidst a series of controversies in the entertainment industry, including singer A.R. Rahman’s explanation for his comments on religious extremism and actor Arjun Kapoor’s criticism of the Indian film industry.
