The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has apprehended a human trafficking ring that was luring Pakistani citizens to Cambodia with promises of jobs. According to the Deputy Director of FIA, the group consisted of six members, with two of them residing in Cambodia. The Deputy Director revealed that the remaining four individuals, based in Pakistan, were targeting young people on social media by posting fake job advertisements for a call center in Cambodia. Once the unsuspecting individuals contacted them, they were further manipulated into falling into the trap.
The FIA’s Corporate Crime Circle in Lahore conducted the operation and arrested the members of the network involved in the kidnapping and trafficking of Pakistani citizens abroad. The Deputy Director of FIA stated that the traffickers were targeting educated and computer-savvy individuals, with each of them being charged $2000 in Cambodia. The victims were then forced to participate in online scams, with those who refused facing physical abuse. The group is believed to have trafficked over 100 Pakistani citizens to Cambodia.
The Deputy Director of FIA reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting the Kashmiri brothers and pledged to maintain a strong and cohesive stance. The meeting also focused on promoting interfaith harmony and religious tolerance. Meanwhile, the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) have resurfaced in Afghanistan since the Taliban’s takeover.
In a separate development, Former First Lady Asif Ali Zardari paid tribute to the late Benazir Bhutto, stating that her vision had led to the establishment of a network of thousands of women. The case of Nadir Jamali, who was involved in a shootout with police in Karachi’s Arison Colony on January 6, is currently under trial. Two police officials were injured in the incident.
In a related story, the government has announced that sirens will be sounded in Muzaffarabad between 9 and 10 am, followed by a minute of silence. The Ministry of Railways has decided to resume operations of the Jaffar Express and the Chamman Passenger Train, which will depart as scheduled from today.
In a surprise move, the opposition alliance, the Movement for the Protection of the Constitution, has accepted the government’s offer for talks. Senator Rana Sanaullah, the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs, stated that the opposition will work with the government to draft the electoral code of conduct. PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s son, Qasim Khan, announced that he and his brother will return to Pakistan to meet with their father.
The Judicial Commission has issued a notification regarding the scope and duration of its inquiry into the Gul Plaza tragedy in Karachi. The victims and perpetrators were employed at the district court, stamping paper. Chief of Defense Staff and Army Chief, General Asim Munir, visited Quetta today.
