Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has vowed to crush terrorism in Balochistan, stating that the country will work with the Baloch nation to defeat India and Afghanistan. Speaking to the media outside Parliament House in Islamabad, Asif said that the terrorists in Balochistan are agents of Afghanistan, who are trying to destabilize the state. He added that those who are enemies of Pakistan are supported by these agents, and they carry out attacks on Pakistan with the backing of its enemies.
The Defense Minister emphasized that in the past few decades, Balochistan has seen significant progress, with the construction of roads and educational institutions. He stated that the Baloch nation has the right to a democratic culture and to have full control over their resources. Asif also highlighted the issue of smuggling in Balochistan, including the smuggling of oil, and said that the government is taking strict measures to curb it.
Asif further stated that the federal government is with the common people, and vowed to give a befitting response to terrorism in Balochistan, working with the Baloch nation to defeat India and Afghanistan. He revealed that the entire world is aware that Indian spy Kulbhushan Yadav is in Pakistan’s custody, and that there is evidence of Indian involvement in terror attacks in Pakistan.
The Defense Minister also claimed that India is waging proxy war against Pakistan after suffering a defeat in the war, and that Pakistan will work with Afghanistan to defeat this proxy war. Asif reiterated Pakistan’s support for the Kashmiri brothers, stating that the country will continue to provide unwavering support and complete solidarity with them.
During the meeting, discussions were also held on interfaith harmony and religious tolerance. It is reported that the TTP and Fidayeen-e-Islam, once considered extinct, have resurfaced in Afghanistan under the Taliban regime.
In a separate development, the wife of former Prime Minister Asif Ali Zardari, Asifa Bhutto Zardari, paid tribute to Benazir Bhutto, stating that her vision has led to the establishment of a network of thousands of women. The SSP stated that the case of Nadeem Jamali, who was involved in a police firing incident in which two police officials were injured, is currently under trial.
According to official documents, 3,730 cases of missing persons have been reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as of January 2026, out of which 2,760 cases have been resolved, and 970 cases are still under investigation. In Muzaffarabad, sirens will be sounded between 9 and 10 am, followed by a minute of silence.
