In a shocking incident in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, a group of momo sellers allegedly duped a 7th-grade student out of 85 lakh worth of jewelry. According to Indian media, the boy’s family, residents of Varanasi, and a temple priest, Vimlesh Mishra, accused the momo sellers of exploiting the boy’s love for momos to steal the jewelry.
The incident came to light when the boy’s aunt complained to the police that all the jewelry was missing from the almirah, and the boy confessed that he had given all the jewelry to the momo sellers in exchange for free momos. The momo sellers allegedly promised the boy that if he brought them jewelry from home, they would give him free momos forever.
The accused momo sellers were identified as three individuals who had been operating a momo stall in the area. They allegedly told the boy that if he brought them jewelry from home, they would give him free momos, and the boy, being a fan of momos, eventually started giving them jewelry from his almirah.
The value of the stolen jewelry is estimated to be around 85 lakh rupees. The boy’s family has filed a written complaint with the police, and the three accused momo sellers have been identified.
This incident is just one of the many cases of scams and duping in India, where individuals are taken advantage of by fake promises and false guarantees.
