The leader of Jamaat-e-Islami, Hafiz Naeemur Rahman, has announced that the party will stage a historical sit-in outside the Sindh Assembly on February 14th. Speaking at the “Give Karachi a Chance” rally on Shahra-e-Faisal, Hafiz Naeemur Rahman stated that none of the country’s top leaders, including President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, or Bilawal Bhutto, have visited the besieged city of Karachi. He claimed that the President and Bilawal Zardari reside in Karachi but have not visited the city, while the Prime Minister has not visited to treat the city’s wounds.
Hafiz Naeemur Rahman further stated that the ruling elite have deprived the people of their rights, and that the party aims to overthrow this system of oppression. He emphasized that there was no one to question at the site of the tragedy, while the people of Karachi were burning in the fire, and the Prime Minister has yet to visit the city. The Jamaat-e-Islami leader stressed that the party does not seek anything for themselves, and that handing over the city to the federation is not a solution. He claimed that the Pakistan Peoples Party has made Sindh a hostage, and that the party will hold a sit-in outside the Sindh Assembly on February 14th, demanding the return of the city’s authority.
The Jamaat-e-Islami leader also called for the destruction of the Circular Railway in Karachi, stating that the city lacks a master plan, and that the investigation into the Ghulam Ali Plaza tragedy should be conducted by the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court.
In other news, a report has emerged that 30 million rupees are being stolen every month from the feeder of the DHQ Hospital in Charsadda. The National Economic Council has approved four large development projects worth over 240 billion rupees. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has issued SOs for the organization of events in girls’ colleges, while the Director of Higher Education in Peshawar has sent a letter to college principals.
There is also speculation that Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, may be transferred, and will likely be posted in the federal government. The Senate’s Standing Committee on Trade has asked tough questions about the performance of the US import, barter trade, and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
Fire Department officials claim that their two vehicles are engaged in bringing the fire under control. Libyan Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Armed Forces, visited GHQ today, accompanied by Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar.
Federal Minister for Communications and National Harmony, Ali Muhammad Khan, apologized to PPP Senator Palwasha Khan in the Senate session. Jamaat-e-Islami reacted to the statement of Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, stating that protests and sit-ins are a democratic right of the people. Senator Raja Nasir Abbas of the opposition party stated that the country is facing a crisis of economy, politics, and law and order.
In an interview with a journalist in Quetta, Muhammad Kareemi Todi said that if Iran is attacked, they will give a befitting response. Smuggling of various goods, including oil, is prevalent in Balochistan. The government is taking strict measures to curb smuggling.
