The Federal Ministry of Health has issued a warning and advisory regarding the spread of the deadly Nipah virus from India. In the advisory, the Ministry has instructed strict screening at all airports, seaports, and land borders across the country. According to the advisory, 100% screening of passengers arriving from or transiting through Pakistan is mandatory, including thermal screening and medical examination for every passenger. The Ministry has advised that the travel history of passengers for the past 21 days be verified, and special monitoring be conducted for passengers arriving from areas affected by or at high risk of Nipah.
The advisory further states that any person showing symptoms of Nipah should be isolated immediately, and no passenger should be allowed entry into Pakistan without clearance. So far, there have been no confirmed cases of Nipah virus in Pakistan, while five cases have been reported in the Indian state of West Bengal.
Similar measures have been taken by Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Nepal to prevent the spread of the Nipah virus from India. A statement has been released by the Justice Committee led by Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court, Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, under the chairmanship of Chief Justice Sardar Tariq Masood.
In other news, the Chief Justice of Sindh High Court has been requested to form a judicial inquiry into the recent incident in Karachi. Senior Minister of Sindh, Saeed Ghani, has announced that the province has taken steps to make schools more secure.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has spoken with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi over the phone. The Prime Minister reiterated his commitment to strengthen cooperation between Pakistan and the European Union in all fields.
A briefing was given to Punjab Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz, on the recent incident in Lahore. The briefing stated that the construction work was underway at the site, and the mother and daughter were staying with their relatives in Lahore. The rescue teams had started their operation on time.
In a press conference in Karachi, Sindh Senior Minister, Saeed Ghani, said that a letter would be written to the Chief Justice of Sindh High Court for a judicial inquiry into the incident.
Awnal National Party leader, Ghulam Ahmed Bilour, said that he is a veteran politician and has no role in the party or the assembly.
