Sindh government’s spokesperson facing backlash as MQM-P’s Sindh Assembly member Maaz Mahboob accuses them of playing politics instead of taking practical steps to aid the affected.
Maaz Mahboob, a member of the Sindh Assembly from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), has criticized the Sindh government for what he calls “a show of politics” amidst the devastation. According to him, the government’s spokesperson has been “trying to mislead” the public, and as a result, allegations are being made left and right.
The real issue, Maaz Mahboob points out, is the failure of the rescue efforts, and the government is trying to deflect attention from it by attacking the governor. He says that instead of taking practical steps to help the affected, the government is using the spokesperson to play politics. If the rescue efforts had been timely and effective, many lives would not have been lost, he adds.
The MQM-P’s Sindh Assembly member also accused the Sindh government of passing the buck to the federal government, a habit he says has been going on for 17 years now. He also condemned the government’s decision to politicize the disaster, saying that instead of providing aid to the affected, the government is using the spokesperson to spin the narrative.
