Sindh is bracing for a massive relief operation after the MQM announced its decision to launch a Sindh Relief Drive. The move comes in response to the devastation caused by the PPP in the province, which the MQM claims to have exposed to the people.
Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad, MQM senior leader Haider Abbas Rizvi stated that the MQM has decided to launch the Sindh Relief Drive to address the basic needs of the people in cities and towns across the province. He expressed his party’s resolve to make the PPP accountable for the misuse of NFC funds, which he claimed were being used for personal gain.
Rizvi also criticized the PPP for not wanting a strong local government in Sindh, citing the party’s failure to implement the 27th Amendment, which had addressed most of the MQM’s demands. He also accused the PPP of delaying the investigation into the collapse of the Glucoza Plaza building, which has left many dead.
In a separate development, the opposition leader in the National Assembly, Mahmood Achakzai, stated that the opposition would not back down from its plan to hold a protest on February 8. The protest is aimed at highlighting the government’s failure to address the ongoing crisis in the country.
In other news, the Punjab Wildlife Department has recovered 57 endangered cheetahs and arrested eight individuals involved in their smuggling. The provincial government has also decided to ban the keeping of exotic animals as pets.
