A staff member at the Élysée Palace, the official residence of French President Emmanuel Macron, has been arrested on suspicion of stealing thousands of euros’ worth of silverware and other valuable items. The incident was reported after the palace’s head steward notified the authorities about the missing items, prompting an investigation. According to the Paris prosecutor’s office, three individuals have been charged in the case, with the first hearing scheduled for next year.
The investigation revealed that the missing items were sold online on various auction websites, including some items that belonged to the Paris Museum, which was robbed of a 600,000 euro gold artifact in the past. The authorities believe that the total loss could range from 15,000 to 40,000 euros.
