Pop superstar Justin Bieber has reignited the nostalgia of his early career by returning to the exact location where he filmed the iconic 2010 music video for “Baby,” the single that launched him into global superstardom.
Fifteen years after the release of the breakout track, the 31-year-old vocalist made a pilgrimage back to the famed Lucky Strike Lanes bowling alley in Los Angeles, which served as a primary filming location for the video. Bieber documented the visit on his social media accounts, sharing a video that gave fans a powerful glimpse into his past.
In the post, Bieber confirmed, “I went back to where ‘Baby’ was shot.” The accompanying video shows Bieber, dressed casually in an oversized t-shirt and baggy shorts, performing an impassioned, a cappella rendition of the chart-topping hit while his friends provide an impromptu beatboxing track in the background.
The track “Baby” proved to be a watershed moment for the singer, catapulting his career and driving his album, *My World 2.0*, to the number one spot on the US Billboard 200 chart.
The music video, primarily filmed across Universal City Walk and Lucky Strike Lanes, remains a foundational piece of pop culture history for his dedicated fanbase. Reflecting on the original production in 2010, rapper Ludacris, who featured on the track, famously described the video as a modern take on Michael Jackson’s “The Way You Make Me Feel.” Bieber, meanwhile, characterized the narrative as “a story about trying to get a former love back.”
Jasmine Villegas, who played Bieber’s love interest in the original video, recently recalled that she was only 16 or 17 years old during the filming.
Bieber’s heartfelt return to the initial location of his professional success signifies a deep connection not only to his musical roots but also to the memories encapsulated within a song that remains synonymous with his legendary career.
