Richardson Police have identified a driver suspected in the hit-and-run death of a man whose body was discovered early Sunday morning along Central Expressway. The victim, 57-year-old Omar Hammet of Huntsville, was found along the 800 block of northbound S. Central Expressway just before 2 a.m. Sunday.
According to investigators, evidence found at the scene indicated that Hammet had been struck by a vehicle that left without offering assistance. Initially, police had no information about the driver. However, in an update provided on Wednesday, the Richardson Police Department’s Special Crash Investigations Team identified a vehicle believed to have been involved in the hit-and-run, and the driver is cooperating with authorities.
No details have been released regarding why Hammet was in the roadway or any information about the driver who allegedly struck him. The investigation into the hit-and-run is ongoing.
