A peculiar situation unfolded in Arlington on Tuesday morning when the police responded to an unusual call reporting a large herd of goats that had escaped from their enclosure.
As part of a partnership between the City of Arlington and Open Space Development, hundreds of goats were brought to the Crystal Canyon Natural Area to assist in clearing the underbrush and invasive plants from the park.
However, things took an unexpected turn when a significant number of goats broke free and were discovered wandering around Brown Boulevard and Winding Hollow Lane.
In a lighthearted moment captured on body camera recording, an Arlington Police officer can be heard chuckling as he tries to manage the situation. “Oh, this is a mess! Go back to where you came from please,” he says. “Who knew we were goat wranglers now?”
Neighbors, like Dolores Richey, found the sight amusing. “Wow, that’s a lot! That’s a lot of goats,” she commented while watching the police body camera video. “I hope they already rescued all of them, but it is adorable!”
Despite the initial chaos, the police successfully corralled all the goats, ensuring that the entire herd was unharmed and accounted for.
