Fort Worth police are on the lookout for a truck driver involved in a hit-and-run accident that resulted in the death of an 82-year-old man in early February.
The tragic collision occurred on Friday, February 2, around 2:35 p.m. on Interstate 30.
According to Fort Worth Police, Charlies Jones Jr., 82, was traveling eastbound in his 2007 Chevrolet car when an unidentified 18-wheeler merged into his lane, striking the left side of his vehicle.
The impact caused Jones’ car to spin on the road before colliding with a guardrail. Jones was transported to a local hospital and succumbed to his injuries two days later.
Loved ones bid farewell to Jones at a funeral held on Saturday, February 17. Born and raised in Karnack, Jones relocated to Fort Worth in 1963, according to Dignity Memorial.
The Fort Worth Police Department has issued a plea for witnesses of the hit-and-run incident to come forward.
