Arlington Animal Services is actively seeking a coyote that attacked a child at Parkway Central Park, with a second incident now under investigation.
The initial attack occurred on Saturday, February 10, in the 600 block of Van Buren Drive near Lamar Boulevard and Cooper Street, as reported by the City of Arlington.
Following the first incident, Animal Services officers deployed a trap and conducted patrols in the park but were unsuccessful in capturing the coyote.
On Tuesday evening, both Arlington Police and Animal Services officers returned to the park after another child was bitten, presumably by the same coyote.
In response to these incidents, Parkway Central Park will be closed on Wednesday, February 14, as authorities continue their efforts to locate and tranquilize the wild animal.
The condition of the children involved in the coyote attacks has not been disclosed at this time.
