The City of Denton is enhancing its vibrant downtown area with the launch of a new initiative.
In collaboration with Block by Block, the City of Denton is introducing a two-year pilot program aimed at fostering a clean, safe, and thriving downtown environment for residents, businesses, and visitors.
The Denton Downtown Ambassador Program kicks off with a community walk, fostering engagement with local businesses and residents.
Block by Block, a company specializing in security and event management, is tasked with deploying a team of ambassadors to provide various services to the city.
These ambassadors offer cleaning and hospitality services, including graffiti removal, sidewalk power washing, and general downtown area maintenance.
Furthermore, they assist the community with safety patrols, hospitality patrols, and other needs as they arise.
Funding for the program has been allocated from the city’s general fund for the next two years, with hopes of extending it further.
The program addresses concerns raised by businesses as Denton’s population continues to grow, with the county recently surpassing 1 million residents.
Courtney Douangdara, Deputy Director for Community Services, emphasizes the program’s role in supporting downtown businesses and enhancing vibrancy.
Block by Block is already involved in similar initiatives, including one in Fort Worth’s West 7th Street Entertainment District.
For assistance from an ambassador, businesses or residents can reach out to the Downtown Denton Ambassador Program hotline at (940) 354-5767.
