An 18-year-old was arrested in the death of a teenager who was found wounded in a Garland neighborhood, police announced Thursday.
Officers responded about 6 p.m. to a report of a male with an apparent gunshot wound lying on the street in the 3900 block of Roanoke Drive, northeast of Interstate 635 and Garland Avenue, police said.
The victim, identified by police as 15-year-old Russell Deangelo Jefferson of Garland, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives identified Cesar Rocha of Dallas as a suspect, and he now faces a murder charge, according to police. He is in custody at the Garland jail; it was unclear if he had an attorney.
Officials said Rocha is cooperating with investigators.
This investigation is ongoing.
