RAWALPINDI: The district administration on Friday sealed Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) and OMG outlets in Chaklala Scheme-III and Askari-3 for using rotten meat and having unhygienic conditions of their kitchens.
Assistant Commissioner Cantonment Qandeel Fatima Memon sealed KFC Scheme 3 after a complaint was received that a steel wire was found in the fillet of a burger. On confirming that the complaint was genuine, KFC Scheme 3 was sealed.
They were strictly warned to look after their kitchen staff and the way they prepared food.
In the second raid, the assistant commissioner cantonment sealed OMG Restaurant in Askari 3.
Talking to Dawn, she said a complaint was received about OMG serving smelly burgers and after raiding their kitchen, it was found that the condition of the kitchen was pathetic, as there were cockroaches everywhere and the jars laid without a lid so the restaurant was sealed.
She said that the food outlets had to obtain medical examination certificates from the district health authority and that it was mandatory for the food outlets to get the medical test of the chefs and workers done twice a year and obtain medical report from government hospitals.
She also said the provincial government had directed to take strict action against those who were playing with the health of the people and she would conduct more surprise visits in the cantonment areas in coming days to streamline things.
She further added that district administration Rawalpindi is there to
look after its people and to ensure that clean and healthy food is served to people of the district.
