About 4 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 2100 block of Interstate 35E, where someone reported they might have seen a person laying on the ground on the Wintergreen Road exit ramp, according to police.
Officers found a man investigators believe was walking near the southbound lanes of the highway when he was struck by a dark-colored 2007-2009 Lexus ES 350, police said. The man, who has not been identified by authorities, was pronounced dead at the location, according to police.
The suspect vehicle could have damage to the front passenger-side bumper, headlight, hood or windshield.
The driver of the Lexus left the area without rendering aid or contacting authorities, according to police.
Police are asking to speak with anyone who may have been in the area of the crash between 3-4 a.m. Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact the DeSoto Police Department by calling 469-658-3049 or by emailing PKrekel@desototexas.gov.
