An 18-year-old reportedly went underwater Saturday afternoon in Lake Waxahachie and never resurfaced. Now, first responders are searching for the young man’s body.
Police said officers were called to the lake about 1 p.m. and spoke with the victim’s family, who said that he was swimming hundreds of yards off shore when he began to struggle then went underwater, according to a report from WFAA-TV (Channel 8).
Recovery efforts continued Sunday.
Officials have only publicly identified the victim as an 18-year-old from Forney.
Waxahachie police and fire officials could not immediately be reached for an update Sunday afternoon.
This follows news of three separate drownings in as many days last week at Lewisville Lake. The drownings all occurred under different circumstances in different areas of the lake.
A woman’s body was found in Grapevine Lake on Thursday, but officials said they found “signs of trauma inconsistent with drowning.”
