A man who was critically injured in the Allen Premium Outlets shooting has been released from the hospital, his representatives said Monday.
Irvin Walker, 46, was one of the first people wounded by the gunman — seen in widely shared video driving toward the gunman as he initially opened fire in the mall’s parking lot. The gunman killed eight people and wounded seven others, including Walker, before being killed by police.
Walker was shot multiple times, with wounds in his arm, chest, and on his face, and endured two major surgeries. He said during a press conference at Medical City McKinney last week that he would begin an extensive rehab process after being released from the hospital.
A press release from Walker’s representatives on Monday said “he is extremely grateful for the prayers and support received over the past two weeks.” The press release included pictures of his car, showing at least 15 bullet holes in the vehicle’s windshield.
Walker had dropped his girlfriend off at the outlet mall and was looking for parking when he encountered the shooter. He said he didn’t initially see the gunman, but felt an “impact” as the shooting began.
A GoFundMe for Walker has raised more than $100,000.
