HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Tuesday is now an Weather Alert Day due to the threat of localized street flooding. Half an inch to 3 inches of rain will be common, but isolated spots could see between 4-7″ of rain. A Flood Watch will go into effect from 10 a.m. Tuesday though 7 p.m. Wednesday
An upper level low will help to pull in moisture bringing that threat for heavy rain. We may continue to see that isolated flooding threat into Wednesday as that low slowly lifts north.
What can we expect this week?
An active pattern with repeated chances for rain. An upper level low spins overhead Tuesday bringing in more moisture and a higher chance for rain. Tuesday could also bring the threat for heavy rain and strong storms which is why we have declared it a Weather Alert Day. Wednesday will also be another day to watch as the threat of heavy rain continues. Scattered rain chances continue through the rest of the work week.
What can we expect with the storms?
This week’s pattern supports widespread, heavy thunderstorms, but this does not look like a widespread severe weather setup. Instead, street flooding will be our bigger concern. While there is a daily chance for downpours, the highest rain chances, for now, are centered around Tuesday and Wednesday.
Are any more cold fronts on the way?
It looks like we could have another front possibly move in closer to the following week.
