A Dallas ISD employee was arrested and is accused of punching a student Friday at Justin F. Kimball High School in west Oak Cliff.
In a video of the incident posted to Instagram, a man is seen striking a person identified in the post as a student at least twice, knocking the glasses off their face. The student falls to the ground before standing back up.
The school district said in an statement it is “deeply disturbed” by the incident.
“Our job as educators is to provide a safe learning environment where students can learn, grow, and excel. The actions captured on the video in no way reflect that commitment, and Dallas ISD will not tolerate this type of behavior,” the district said.
Efforts to reach Brooks were unsuccessful Tuesday, and it was not immediately clear if he has an attorney.
Dallas ISD did not immediately confirm the arrest or specify what lead to the altercation.
“We have taken swift action and will hold all parties involved in this serious offense responsible, to the fullest extent of the law,” the district’s statement said. The district did not specify what action was taken.
On Monday, Mesquite police arrested a 24-year-old substitute teacher after she was accused of allowing and reportedly encouraging middle school students to physically fight each other at Kimbrough Middle School.
