HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — We’ve got one more chilly night ahead before the warm, soupy air returns from the Gulf of Mexico.
Temperatures will drop to the upper 30s and low 40s overnight under a clear sky with light winds. There will be enough of a breeze to push the wind chill factor into the mid 30s around sunrise, so make sure everyone is dressed warmly before heading out!
Temperatures will warm to the low 60s as clouds return during the afternoon. These clouds are developing ahead of a warm front that will blow in Thursday night to bring back mild, humid air and sea fog for Friday.
What can we expect for the weekend?
The warm, humid air will most likely win out for most of the weekend. Saturday will start foggy and warm with low temperatures only around 70. A front will try to push through Southeast Texas, but it is expected to stall out somewhere near Houston. South of the front it will stay very warm and mild with highs near 80. North of the front temperatures will drop into the 50s and 60s. Regardless of how far south the front goes, we have a 30% chance for showers on Saturday. Sunday will start off less warm with lows in the upper 50s and low 60s. As the warm air pushes back in from the Gulf, widespread fog and clouds will return along with a 20% chance for rain. High temperatures will peak in the mid 70s.
How long will the warm air and sea fog stick around?
Most of next week should be on the warm, humid side for December standards. We might have to wait until the second weekend of December to cool off again.
