HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A major weather change is pushing through Houston, and it’s going to be a shock to the body for many after we’ve spent most afternoon this week in the 80s.
Anyone heading outside this evening will need to be prepared for cold, wet, and windy weather. By sunrise the rain will be gone, but the “feels like” temps will be in the mid 30s with actual temps in the mid 40s.
A Wind Advisory will go into effect at 8 p.m. for our coastal communities and continue until 6 a.m. Saturday. That’s when winds could gust from the north at over 40 mph.
How will this cold front impact the weekend?
It will be cold and breezy all weekend, but it should be dry! After a cold, cloudy, breezy start in the 40s on Saturday, the sun will come out and warm temperatures into the upper 50s. Sunday morning will be even colder under a mostly clear sky. Lows will dip into the 30s across most of Southeast Texas, and it is possible communities north of Houston could get their first light freeze of the season.
Will the cold air stick around?
Yes, for all of next week! Another cold front will blow in on Monday, and this one is likely to bring another round of showers and thunderstorms, some of which could be severe. Behind this front, even colder air will pour in, keeping highs in the 50s and pushing lows into the 30s by the end of the week. It’s even possible for the freeze line to make an early appearance in Southeast Texas.
