A man was fatally shot Thursday afternoon at a park in Old East Dallas, police say.
Shortly after 1:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a shooting near Central Square Park, at Oak and Floyd streets, police said.
They found the victim, who has not been identified, lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds to his chest. Dallas Fire-Rescue took the man to a hospital, where he died.
Multiple witnesses told officers that the gunman walked up to the victim and shot him three times, police said, adding that there was no argument or confrontation before the incident and they are unsure of a motive for the shooting.
Police did not provide a detailed suspect description.
Police said they believe both the victim and the shooter were experiencing homelessness. Investigators are working with homeless shelters to identify a suspect, police said
