On Day 1 of the first Test between Pakistan and West Indies at the Multan Cricket Stadium, Saud Shakeel’s resilient 56 off 100 balls and Mohammad Rizwan’s steady 51 off 80 balls helped Pakistan recover after an early collapse.
After opting to bat first, Pakistan found themselves in deep trouble, being reduced to 46 for 4 as Jayden Seales troubled the batters with his pace.
Shan Masood was dismissed for 11 by Gudakesh Motie, followed by quick dismissals of Muhammad Hurraira (6), Babar Azam (8), and Kamran Ghulam (5), leaving Pakistan in a difficult situation.
However, Rizwan and Shakeel formed a crucial 97-run partnership to stabilize Pakistan’s innings. The pair ended the day with Pakistan at 143/4, after bad light halted play.
Both batters will continue to build Pakistan’s innings on Day 2.
Pakistan ended the day at 143-4 in 41.3 overs.
Jayden Seales took 3 wickets for 21 runs, while Gudakesh Motie claimed 1 for 45.
Other bowlers Justin Greaves, Kevin Sinclair, Jomel Warrican, and Kraig Brathwaite remained wicketless.
