Dismisses Allegations as Part of “Iranophobia” Campaign
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has firmly denied allegations that Iran had plotted to assassinate U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, calling the claims baseless and accusing external powers of stirring up “Iranophobia.”
In an exclusive interview, Pezeshkian categorically stated that Iran had never planned to harm Trump, adding, “We have never attempted this to begin with, and we never will.”
The remarks came in response to charges filed by the U.S. Justice Department in November 2024, accusing an Iranian national of involvement in a plot allegedly orchestrated by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps to kill Trump. U.S. authorities claimed the plot was foiled before any action could be taken.
Pezeshkian dismissed the allegations as part of a broader campaign by Israel and other countries to incite hostility against Iran. He emphasized that Iran is open to dialogue but expressed frustration with the unfulfilled commitments arising from past negotiations.
He reiterated that Iran had never sought to harm Trump and noted that a written assurance was sent to the U.S. in October 2024 via Swiss diplomats, reassuring them of Iran’s peaceful intentions.
