Actor Aubrey Plaza deleted her Instagram account shortly after the tragic death of her husband, filmmaker Jeff Baena. Once active, Aubrey’s account is now unavailable, with a search for her profile showing the message, “Sorry, this page isn’t available.”
Jeff Baena, 47, was found dead earlier this month at a residence in Los Angeles. Medical examiner records indicate the official cause of death was suicide, with no additional causes or suspicious circumstances noted.
Born and raised in Miami, Jeff attended film school at New York University before moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in entertainment. He gained recognition for co-writing the 2004 indie film I Heart Huckabees and later directed films such as Life After Beth (2014), Horse Girl (2020), and Spin Me Round (2022).
In a joint statement, Aubrey and Jeff’s family shared their grief: “This is an unimaginable tragedy. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time.” Earlier, her representative told Deadline, “The family is devastated and asks for privacy at this difficult time.”
The couple had been together for over a decade and secretly married in 2020. They had no children.
