Over 1,100 Levies Personnel Integrated into Police in Quetta, Gwadar, and Lasbela
The Levies forces in Quetta, Gwadar, and Lasbela districts of Balochistan have been officially merged with the police. This decision was finalized in a meeting chaired by Balochistan Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan.
Government spokesperson Shahid Rind confirmed the merger, emphasizing its role in enhancing the province’s capacity to maintain law and order. The director general of the Levies had recommended merging the Levies of Quetta, Gwadar, and Lasbela with their respective police forces.
A total of 1,116 Levies personnel, including weapons inspectors, clerks, risaldars, naib risaldars, dafadars, khassadars, jumadars, havildars, sepoys, wireless operators, and footmen from Grade 1 to Grade 11, have been incorporated into the police force.
Details of the integration:
- 346 personnel from Quetta
- 381 personnel from Gwadar
- 220 personnel from Lasbela
- 219 personnel from Hub
Officials noted that the transfer of Levies police stations, vehicles, weapons, and other equipment will be carried out after a comprehensive assessment. The spokesperson added that the merger would strengthen the law enforcement system, fostering better coordination and more effective policing.
