Over 1,100 Levies Personnel Joined Police Forces in Quetta, Gwadar, and Lasbela
The Levies forces in Quetta, Gwadar, and Lasbela districts of Balochistan have officially been merged with the police. This decision was finalized during a meeting chaired by Balochistan Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan.
Government spokesperson Shahid Rind confirmed the merger, stating that it is expected to improve law and order in the province. The director general of Levies in Balochistan had previously sent a letter to the additional chief secretary of the Home Department, proposing the integration of Levies forces from Quetta, Gwadar, and Lasbela into their respective police departments.
Under this merger, a total of 1,116 Levies personnel have been incorporated into the police force, including weapons inspectors, clerks, risaldars, naib risaldars, dafadars, khassadars, jumadars, havildars, sepoys, wireless operators, and other ranks from Grade 1 to 11.
The details of personnel distribution are as follows:
- 346 personnel from Quetta
- 381 personnel from Gwadar
- 220 personnel from Lasbela
- 219 personnel from Hub
Sources indicated that the transfer of Levies police stations, vehicles, weapons, and other equipment will be conducted after a comprehensive review. The spokesperson further stated that this merger would enhance coordination among law enforcement agencies and result in more effective policing
