“PTI leaders can contact Rana Sanaullah and other officials directly,” says Ayaz Sadiq
National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq has stated that the decision regarding a meeting between PTI and its jailed founder Imran Khan lies with the government and its allies. No side has approached him for a third round of talks.
“I told Asad Qaiser on January 4 that their demand to meet Imran Khan has been conveyed to the government. PTI leaders can directly contact Rana Sanaullah and other government officials regarding this matter,” said Sadiq.
The statement comes after both sides initiated talks following months of political tensions. Two rounds of discussions were held on December 27, 2024, and January 2, 2025. However, the third round has not been called due to PTI’s failure to submit written demands, which they have conditioned upon meeting Khan, who has been imprisoned in Adiala Jail for over a year.
PTI’s demands include the release of political prisoners and a judicial probe into the events of May 9, 2023, and the November 26 crackdown.
While Imran Khan has given a green light for the third round of talks even if his party leaders are not allowed to meet him, he insists that the dialogue cannot progress further unless his negotiators meet him.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar has assured that the party will present its demands in writing, whereas Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, has blamed the delay on Speaker Sadiq’s foreign visit.
Amid PTI’s warning that the dialogue process might collapse without a judicial commission after the third session, the PM’s aide has hinted at relocating Khan due to security or health concerns.
