JUI-F Emir criticizes establishment for ignoring right and wrong, focusing only on authority.
Karachi: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Emir Maulana Fazlur Rehman has accused the establishment of prioritizing power over principles, stating that its behavior remains unchanged.
“Their sole concern is retaining their power. They ridicule the people’s vote, so why shouldn’t the public mock them in return?” he remarked during a press conference in Karachi.
Apolitical Claims Are Political
Fazl stated that the establishment’s claims of being apolitical are inherently political, adding that even martial law regimes manage to complete their terms in power.
Compromise on Democracy
The JUI-F chief criticized politicians for compromising on democracy, constitutional principles, and fundamental values. He lamented that political leaders focus solely on their rule rather than public welfare.
Madrassa Reforms
Speaking on educational reforms, Fazl acknowledged that legislation has been enacted to regulate and register madrassas, with relief provided in the registration process. However, he emphasized the need to respect the autonomy of these institutions.
Economic Transparency
Fazl called for transparency in addressing economic issues, urging that the true state of the nation’s economy be revealed to the public.
The veteran politician reiterated his commitment to resolving national issues through consensus and improving the country’s existing systems.
