Actor Billy Crystal and his wife, Janice, have confirmed that the devastating Pacific Palisades fire has destroyed their home of nearly 50 years. In a joint statement, the couple expressed their heartbreak over the loss.
The couple stated, “Words cannot describe the enormity of the devastation we are witnessing and experiencing. We ache for our friends and neighbors who have also lost their homes and businesses in this tragedy.”
Reflecting on their time in the house, they said, “Janice and I lived in our home since 1979. We raised our children and grandchildren here. Every inch of our house was filled with love. Beautiful memories that can’t be taken away.” Despite the heartache, Crystal and his wife found comfort in the support of their loved ones, adding, “With the love of our children and friends, we will get through this.”
The fire, which has burned more than 15,800 acres, has affected many notable figures, including Eugene Levy, the honorary mayor of Pacific Palisades, and celebrities like Mandy Moore, Diane Warren, and James Woods, who lost their homes. The destruction has also claimed historical landmarks such as the Topanga Ranch Motel, Will Rogers’ historic ranch house, and the Palisades Charter High School. Nearly 1,000 homes have been destroyed as the fire continues to wreak havoc.
