Senior leaders meet former PM at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail
RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan directed his party’s negotiation team to continue talks with the government, following a meeting at Adiala Jail on Wednesday.
“PTI founder has given the green light to proceed with the negotiations and submit the party’s demands in writing,” PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said while addressing the media outside the jail.
The PTI team, including Barrister Gohar, Ali Zafar, and Sher Afzal Marwat, met the former PM in a courtroom within the Adiala facility.
Written Demands and Negotiation Deadlock
For days, PTI insisted that a meeting with Khan was essential to progress. The delay in submitting written demands led to a deadlock in talks.
During negotiations, PTI reiterated demands for its founder and workers’ release and the formation of a judicial commission on the May 9 riots and November 26 protests.
Barrister Gohar stated that if the government doesn’t allow further meetings with Khan, the party would still pursue another round of talks but emphasized that meeting him remains crucial for progress.
Other Developments
Khan clarified that no discussions about relocating him have taken place and reiterated PTI’s stance against foreign interference, stating that any interference, including from the US, would be rejected.
Additionally, an Anti-Terrorism Court approved Khan’s request for a medical examination and allowed him to communicate with his sons during a hearing held at the jail.
