Residents of Kurram continue to await relief supplies as the aid convoy remains stranded due to heightened tensions following last week’s attack on the deputy commissioner.
The convoy, scheduled to depart on January 4, is still stuck in Tal, with the Tal-Parachinar Road closed for transit as of Tuesday. Concerns over the spoilage of perishable items such as fruits and vegetables persist.
To ensure safe passage, authorities announced a curfew from Chapri Check Post to Tari Mangal, with Section 144 imposed in the district.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government temporarily suspended aid for the victims of violence, while Adviser Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif assured that the convoy would proceed within a day or two after security clearance.
Officials confirmed that 90% of surveys assessing damage to homes and shops have been completed, but aid distribution was halted until the perpetrators of the attack were handed over.
