PM orders confiscation of human traffickers’ properties and strict legal action.
SUKKUR: The District and Sessions Court has summoned Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi over the loss of Pakistani lives in migrant boat capizing incidents off the coast of Greece.
During the hearing, the additional session judge-II issued notices for the top officials to appear in court on January 15.
The petitioner alleged that unemployed Pakistanis are leaving the country due to the government’s negligence, leading to the tragic loss of 75 Pakistani lives in these incidents. The court has been asked to direct the registration of a case against government officials at Rohri police station.
This development comes after over 80 Pakistanis drowned when boats carrying them capsized near Greece between December 13 and 14. With many still missing, the FIA has recovered nine bodies, and 40 Pakistanis are reported missing.
PM’s Directive
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered stringent legal actions against all human trafficking groups in the country and directed the confiscation of their properties.
He emphasized that the Foreign Office should facilitate the extradition of Pakistanis involved in human trafficking operations abroad and that legal prosecution against all involved should be intensified with the help of top lawyers.
