NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq hesitant to convene the third round of talks.
Government yet to confirm permission for PTI to meet Khan.
PTI’s inability to submit written demands cited as a key reason for deadlock.
Islamabad: The deadlock in the negotiations between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the government is attributed to PTI’s failure to meet their incarcerated leader Imran Khan and present written demands, sources revealed.
After two rounds of discussions, NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq has not been approached by either side to arrange the third meeting. The stalled talks come as PTI negotiators claim they are unable to finalize their demands without consulting their party founder.
Issues in Negotiations
PTI negotiator Asad Qaiser stated that verbal demands discussed during the meetings should be treated as written demands. However, the party’s legal team has emphasized the need to consult Imran Khan before formalizing any document.
Government’s Stance
The government has reiterated its willingness to engage but insists on receiving PTI’s demands in writing. Officials have also cited procedural hurdles as a reason for the delay in granting permission for PTI leaders to meet Khan.
The Way Forward
PTI claims that the inability to meet their leader has stalled the negotiations, while the government has warned that failure to align demands could derail the dialogue process. Both sides have yet to indicate how they plan to resolve the impasse.
