Karachi: Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal downplayed the Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) warning to quit the coalition government, emphasizing that political ups and downs are normal and issues can be resolved internally with maturity.
PPP spokesperson Shazia Marri had earlier expressed dissatisfaction over the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) not involving her party in key decisions, warning that the federal government would collapse if PPP withdrew its support.
Resolving Differences Internally
Ahsan Iqbal highlighted that while PML-N and PPP have distinct ideologies, they are united on Pakistan’s development.
He stated: “The Charter of Democracy, signed by Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto, reflects the essence of democracy, where two mature political parties collaborate for the country’s betterment.”
Securing Cyberspace
When asked about the country’s digital infrastructure, Iqbal remarked that technology is both a “huge opportunity” and a “threat.” He stressed the importance of protecting cyberspace to prevent potential harm to energy, finance, and other critical sectors.
Iqbal also mentioned that uninterrupted VPN services have been provided to software houses, resulting in a 34% increase in software exports. He assured that the current challenges are temporary and improvements will follow.
