KARACHI: One person lost their life, and over 24 others were injured in a tragic multi-vehicle collision on the Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway this morning (Saturday), according to rescue sources.
The accident occurred early in the morning when four vehicles, including two passenger buses traveling from Hyderabad to Karachi, collided. Police confirmed that the deceased was a young man.
Rescue teams were actively engaged at the site, with ambulances providing immediate medical aid. The injured were transported to the trauma center at Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment.
According to police, the incident happened after light rain caused a passenger bus to skid and overturn. This led to a chain reaction as another passenger bus and two cars collided with the overturned vehicle. Additionally, an oil tanker collided with a container truck as drivers attempted to brake abruptly to avoid the crash.
“The passenger bus lost balance and overturned, causing another bus and vehicles behind it to crash,” police explained.
Road accidents in Pakistan are a frequent occurrence due to factors such as driver negligence, poor road conditions, and adverse weather.
A few days earlier, on December 30, at least 18 people were killed and 37 injured in two separate traffic accidents. One accident occurred when a bus overturned near Fateh Jang in Punjab, while another happened in Sindh’s Naushahro Feroze when a wedding van collided with a trawler.
On the M-14 Motorway near Fateh Jang, at least 11 individuals, including six women and five men, lost their lives in a bus accident.
