Peshawar: Five people were killed and seven others injured in a shooting incident near Tehkal, Peshawar, linked to an ongoing rivalry.
According to police, the shooting occurred when members of one group, returning from a wedding ceremony, encountered their rivals in the Tehkal area. A gunfight broke out, leading to casualties.
SP Warsak Mukhtar Khan confirmed that five individuals lost their lives, and six others were injured during the altercation.
CCPO Qasim Shah revealed that the incident involved two rival groups with a long-standing feud over a commercial plaza, which had been a point of contention between them.
Among the injured was Bilal Khalil, head of a local social organization, who was the primary target of the attack.
The police have launched legal proceedings and are continuing their investigation into the incident. This was not the first confrontation between the two groups, as a previous gunfire exchange in September 2024 resulted in one fatality.
