Rohit Shetty is set to extend his streak of cop films following Singham Again!
According to Bollywood Hungama, the Chennai Express director will produce a biopic on former Joint Commissioner of Mumbai Police, Rakesh Maria.
“Rohit Shetty is fulfilling his long-term commitment of making a biopic on Rakesh Maria, who has been a pillar of support for Rohit during the research for all his cop universe films,” an insider revealed.
The source further confirmed John Abraham as the lead:
“John is thrilled to collaborate with Rohit Shetty. This film won’t be part of the cop universe but will stand as a universe of its own since Rakesh Maria is a celebrated figure in real-life policing.”
The script has reportedly been finalized, and production is slated to begin in summer 2025.
This marks the first major collaboration between John Abraham and Rohit Shetty since Bol Bachchan (2012), where John had a cameo.
The biopic will be Rohit’s next production after Singham Again.
Currently, Rohit is busy directing Golmaal 5, rumored to release in early 2026.
