PTI leader Shibli Faraz has denied the “false perception” that party founder Imran Khan is seeking personal relief in negotiations with the government. Speaking at a joint press conference, Faraz emphasized that Khan remains firm in his principled stance and is serving jail time for the sake of the people.
Faraz accused the ruling coalition of spreading false propaganda about Khan’s intentions. He clarified that the negotiations focus on the release of “all political prisoners” and not on Khan’s personal relief.
Contrary to Faraz’s statement, PTI leader Asad Qaiser had earlier revealed that three key points were presented in the negotiations: the restoration of law and order, the release of Imran Khan and other political prisoners, and a judicial inquiry into the events of May 9 and November 26.
Faraz further asserted that PTI is a “peaceful” political party, fighting for its rights within the framework of the Constitution and law. He added that their struggle also includes “peaceful protests.”
He accused the current government of operating under the dictates of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), ignoring the welfare of the people. Faraz stated that if negotiations between the ruling coalition and PTI fail, the government will be responsible.
PTI leader Omar Ayub Khan also expressed concern over the country’s uncertain situation, stressing that economic recovery and political stability are intertwined. He raised concerns over the smuggling of petrol and diesel into the country.
