Last night, Karachi experienced its coldest night of the winter season, with the temperature dropping to 8.5°C. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the lowest recorded temperature in the city was 6.5°C in Gulistan-e-Johar.
Chilly conditions have gripped the city, especially at night, due to the influence of north-easterly winds. The Met Office predicts further temperature drops in the next 24 hours, with the mercury expected to range between 8°C and 10°C.
In the past 24 hours, humidity levels in Karachi stood at 25%, accompanied by light north-easterly winds. Temperatures were recorded at 8.5°C at Jinnah Terminal and Shahrah-e-Faisal, 9°C in Maripur, and 9.7°C in Bin Qasim.
Meanwhile, Balochistan continues to endure freezing temperatures, particularly in its northern areas. Quetta and Ziarat recorded a minimum temperature of -6°C, while Kalat faced harsher conditions at -7°C.
Other districts such as Pishin, Mastung, Zhob, Qila Saifullah, and Qila Abdullah also reported cold weather conditions.
According to the PMD, most districts of Balochistan are expected to remain cold and dry, with extreme cold persisting in the mountainous regions.
