“Stop TTP from Killing Our Innocent People,” PM Urges Afghan Government to Take Action
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif once again urged the Afghan government to take action against the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) that is carrying out terror activities from across the Afghan border, describing it as unacceptable and a “red line” for Pakistan.
During his opening remarks at a cabinet meeting, the prime minister said, “Unfortunately, TTP is operating from Afghanistan and carrying out terror attacks, killing innocent people inside Pakistan. This cannot continue. We have conveyed to the Afghan government that we desire good relations with them, but TTP must be stopped from killing our innocent people.”
He added, “This is a red line. TTP operating from there against Pakistan is unacceptable.”
The prime minister emphasized the long shared border between the two countries and stressed the need for cordial ties and cooperation in trade and other sectors, but insisted that the Afghan government must formulate a strong strategy. Pakistan was ready for dialogue, but talks and allowing TTP to operate cannot go hand in hand.
He further stated that Pakistan’s armed forces and law enforcement agencies were always ready to ensure the country’s peace and security. Recently, 16 Frontier Corps personnel were martyred in North Waziristan, and several terrorists were eliminated in operations.
