The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) has introduced a new procedure for appointing high court judges, aiming to make the process more transparent and merit-based.
Under this revised procedure, the candidates’ qualifications, experience, and professional performance will be the primary criteria. After thoroughly vetting the list of nominees, the JCP will prepare a comprehensive report to be submitted to the relevant authorities.
Additionally, the candidates’ past judicial decisions, ethical standards, and courtroom conduct will also be reviewed to ensure the selection of the most suitable individuals.
This move is expected to be a significant milestone in enhancing transparency in the judiciary and restoring public trust in the judicial system.
