The Government of Pakistan has announced the schedule of public and optional holidays for the year 2025. According to the notification issued by the Cabinet Division, there will be 17 public holidays and 23 optional holidays in the upcoming year.
Details of Public Holidays:
- February 5: Kashmir Day
- March 23: Pakistan Day
- March 30, 31, and April 1: Eid-ul-Fit sighting)
- May 1: Labour Day
- May 28: Youm-e-Takbeer
- June 7 to 9: Eid-ul-Adha (Subject to moon sighting)
- July 5 and 6: 9th and 10th Muharram (Ashura)
- August 14: Independence Day
- September 5 or 6: Eid Milad-un-Nabi (Subject to moon sighting)
- November 9: Iqbal Day
- December 25: Quaid-e-Azam Day/Christmas
- December 26: Day after Christmas (For Christian employees only)
Optional Holidays:
There are 23 optional holidays designated, with Muslim employees permitted to avail one optional holiday per year, while non-Muslim employees can avail up to three optional holidays.
Bank Holidays:
- January 1: New Year’s Day
- March 1:
- July 1:
These holidays are specific to banks, during whichns will remain suspended.
Important Guidelines:
- Islamic festival holidays are subject to moon sighting; final dates will be announced accordingly.
- Prior appd of the concerned organization is required for availing optional holidays.
- Work continuity should not be disrupted during optional holidays.
