The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced a new requirement for Pakistani citizens applying for visas, mandating the submission of a police verification report.
Director General of the Bureau of Immigration, Muhammad Tayyab, informed the Senate Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis that this directive ensures no individual departs for the UAE without proper clearance.
He further stated that all agents facilitating travel to the UAE have been instructed to adhere to this new requirement.
Secretary of Overseas Pakistanis, Arshad Mahmood, clarified that while unskilled workers face delays in obtaining visas, skilled laborers continue to receive them.
He added that the number of Pakistani workers in the UAE has increased, now reaching 1.8 million.
Officials emphasized the need to align Pakistani workers’ skills with international standards to meet the UAE’s requirements.
