On May 9, 2023, significant attacks targeted key military installations in the country, including Lahore’s Jinnah House, Rawalpindi’s General Headquarters (GHQ), and other sensitive sites. Following these incidents, legal proceedings were initiated against those involved. Military courts have sentenced 25 individuals to varying terms of rigorous imprisonment, detailed as follows:
- 10 Years Imprisonment: Involved in the Jinnah House attack: Jan Muhammad Khan, Muhammad Imran Mehboob, Ali Iftikhar, Zia ur Rehman, Abdul Hadi, Ali Shan, Daud Khan; involved in the GHQ attack: Raja Muhammad Ehsan, Umar Farooq; involved in the Punjab Regimental Centre Mardan attack: Rehmat Ullah, Adnan Ahmed, Shakir Ullah; involved in the PAF Base Mianwali attack: Anwar Khan, Babar Jamal.
- 9 Years Imprisonment: Involved in the Bannu Cantonment attack: Muhammad Afaq Khan.
- 7 Years Imprisonment: Involved in the Chakdara Fort attack: Daud Khan.
- 6 Years Imprisonment: Involved in the Jinnah House attack: Muhammad Hashir Khan, Faheem Haider.
- 4 Years Imprisonment: Involved in the Multan Cantonment Check Post attack: Zahid Khan; involved in the Jinnah House attack: Muhammad Ashiq Khan.
- 3 Years Imprisonment: Involved in the Multan Cantonment Check Post attack: Khurram Shahzad.
- 2 Years Imprisonment: Involved in the Punjab Regimental Centre Mardan attack: Yasir Nawaz.
According to the military’s public relations wing, all convicts retain the right to appeal under the constitution and law. Further legal actions are ongoing against other individuals, with all possible measures being taken to ensure justice is served.
