The long-standing dispute between Pakistan and India over the 2025 Champions Trophy is moving toward a resolution. Both countries have agreed to play ICC tournament matches at neutral venues, with Pakistan hosting the event. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) proposed a hybrid model where India’s matches in Pakistan would be shifted to neutral venues and vice versa for Pakistan’s matches in India. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly accepted this proposal.
The breakthrough in talks came when the BCCI agreed in principle to the hybrid model. The 2025 Champions Trophy will now be held in both Pakistan and the UAE, with India’s matches played in Dubai. This agreement is expected to apply to all ICC events until 2027.
The PCB has insisted on receiving written guarantees from the ICC to ensure that this arrangement is implemented without issues. The PCB has also pushed for the hybrid model to be made part of the host agreement.
