The World Bank has pledged a historic $100 billion in aid to the world’s poorest nations. The funding will be directed towards helping 78 developing countries improve their economic stability, education, health, infrastructure, and climate resilience.
World Bank President Ajay Banga emphasized that this financial support would assist countries struggling with severe economic crises. The funds will be used for various development projects to help improve economic conditions and generate employment opportunities.
This support will particularly benefit African nations, as nearly two-thirds of all IDA funding in the past decade has been allocated to them. The United States, Japan, and several European countries have played a significant role in contributing to this aid.
